Date for the Diary: Literary Fundraiser for BBC Children in Need
by Jamie Klingler
Fancy a night talking books over a glass of wine with three awesome British writers? All for a good cause? Of course you do. Which is lucky as you’re in the right place.
On Thursday 14th November, DFS is hosting an exclusive fundraising night for BBC Children in Need. Viv Groskop, Jenny Colgan and Alex Marwood will be at the flagship store on Tottenham Court Road to talk about their latest books and do a Q&A.
Here’s the really exciting bit: they’ve given four pairs of tickets to London Book Club members (and anyone else who’s book mad, but not had the chance to join us yet) to go along and get involved.
There’ll be wine, snacks and book chat (and, one would imagine, a few squishy sofas on which to enjoy it all), and everyone who attends will be entered into a prize draw to win one of four New Kindle Paperwhites on the night. There’ll also be a chance to buy the authors’ books and get them signed – giving you a cracking head start on the Christmas shopping.
As it’s all in a great cause, everyone’s top-three favourite bear (others being Winnie the Pooh and Paddington, obvs) Pudsey will be collecting voluntary donations in aid of Children in Need; DFS staff will also be selling limited edition BBC Children in Need cushions; and the lovely authors have agreed to donate their appearance fee to BBC Children in Need.
Helen Normoyle, Director of Marketing at DFS says, “We feel very privileged to be working with three talented writers as part of our fundraising for BBC Children in Need this year and are extremely grateful to Viv, Jenny and Alex for giving up their time. It’s set to be an intriguing evening – we’re all looking forward to hearing first-hand about the inspiration behind their writing.”
The event takes place between 6.45pm and 8pm on the 14th – if you’d like to be in with a chance of grabbing one of the eight tickets, just leave a comment below, by the end of the day on Monday 11th November. I’ll contact the winners via email.
